FEMP Lights - A Web-Based Distance Learning Course

Energy Effective Lighting: Managing Lighting Retrofits for Energy Savings and Productivity

The Department of Energy's Office of Federal Energy Management Programs (FEMP) is pleased to offer its lighting efficiency training course over the Internet, as an web-based distance learning class. It has received rave reviews for both convenience and high quality content. Course materials can be downloaded from the class website, at work, at home, or anywhere you have access to the Internet. You review the course materials on your own schedule over the nine sections. The instructors and students communicate on-line.

The class is tailored to the needs of federal energy managers who supervise lighting projects, or who want to learn more about the essentials of lighting efficiency. The curriculum features information on the latest technology and the current lighting codes. It addresses workplace lighting, including offices, institutional, industrial, and warehouse spaces.

The registration period for the course will be announced soon. Completion of the course offers 3 college credits through Edmonds Community College and 18 credits for NCQLP re-accreditation. The fee for the course is $37. The web-based Advanced Lighting Guidelines 2001 is used as the class text.
