Fire Hazards
Combustion appliances and their associated venting systems can present fire hazards.
Combustible Materials:
State health and safety procedures should identify inadequate clearances between combustion appliances (including venting systems) and combustible materials.
Creosote:
States should have procedures to identify dangerous creosote build-up in chimneys and wood stove flues. These procedures should include:
How to determine when DOE monies will be used to remedy fire hazards
How to treat problems that cannot be remedied with DOE monies
