Success Stories

A one-page success story or Close-Up document is an effective way to illustrate your program highlights. You can provide general program information along with specific examples, compelling quotes, and photos. The document should provide a "snapshot" of your Weatherization activities.

Several electronic files are available to help you develop customized success stories. These files are provided in three formats:

1. "Portable document format" files (.pdf) for Adobe Acrobat. These files cannot be altered using any software. They can be viewed on Adobe Acrobat but you cannot make any changes to the file. This format is provided so that agencies can re-print finished, formatted documents. The files can be printed professionally in color or copied in black and white. The files can be viewed on IBM compatible or Mac computers.

Suggestions for use

Print success story in color or black and white, stamp with agency contact information, copy and distribute.

2. Word Processing files (.wpd or .doc) for Word or Word Perfect. These files contain the text from other graphic files or simple graphic templates that can be edited in word processing programs.

Suggestions for use

Copy text into other agency documents (e.g., brochure, annual report, fact sheet). Even if the text does not specifically refer to your agency, you may be able to use parts of the description and insert your information. Why re-write text that's already written for you?

3. Corel Draw files (.cdr) that can only be edited using Corel Draw (version 6, 7, or 8) or a similar graphics software program. These files can be altered to include agency/state-specific information.

Suggestions for use

Edit the document to include your agency information. Use this template to create additional success stories. Modify the template for other communications materials to maintain a consistent look.
