PUBLIC INFORMATION CAMPAIGN: Ideas: Calendar Of Opportunities

Calendar of Opportunities

Every story, every event needs a "hook," something to grab the audience's attention. Finding this creative angle can often pose more of a challenge than actually writing the story or planning the event. Here are some ideas for creative themes, news links, and lead-ins for weatherization stories and activities. The ideas are organized by month of the year, so that you can capitalize on current events. You'll see that you can take the same story and re-package it with a different spin so that it's "current" and relevant for any month of the year.

Look for additional opportunities at your state/local level, such as civic meetings, community celebrations, trade shows, carnivals, parades, state-specific holidays, sporting events, school holidays and activities, new economic development projects, etc. Be creative and be sure to make a clear link to the Weatherization Assistance Program, so that you can clearly communicate the Weatherization story.
