Weatherization Day 2007 Activities

In Oregon, the Community Action Weatherization Program presented its fifth annual Energy Fair on Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Beaverton Community Center. The event, which was staffed by non-profit organizations, utilities and government agencies promoted energy conservation and offered resources to help make homes more energy-efficient.. The fair was designed to appeal to individuals, families, seniors, disabled and individuals who only speak Spanish. Free workshops included furnace basics, fixing leaks, home weatherization, water heaters, lead safety and budget solar.

Two popular Portland-area bands; Recycleman and the Dumpster Divers, which promotes recycling through fun songs, and SüsseFüsse which performs dances as a celebration of global cultures were also in attendance.

Weatherization Day 2006 Activities

In recognition of low-income individuals' and families' energy assistance needs, Governor Kulongoski formally proclaimed October 30th as Weatherization Day in the state of Oregon.

Weatherization Day 2001 Activities

Several agencies conducted Weatherization Day events to promote the Program. One local agency conducted an Energy Fair and invited people to learn how to use energy more efficiently. This was also an opportunity to indentify those families needing help with their energy use. Other agencies used local television, radio, and newspapers to provide stories about WAP.
