Weatherization Day 2007 Activities
Recognizing the many benefits of energy conservation, Governor Easley proclaimed October Energy Awareness Month encouraging celebrations of the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) and energy saving measures on a statewide level.
In further recognition of Energy Month, the Community Action Association and the State Weatherization Office sponsored a weatherization booth at the N.C. State Fair October 12-21, 2007. In addition, several local Boards of County Commissioners and Town Councils issued proclamations for Weatherization Day
The WAP also yielded substantial media attention including a televised interview with a local coordinator who provided an excellent display of weatherization measures.
Weatherization Day 2006 Activities
This year, Governor Mike Easley proclaimed Monday, October 30 to be Weatherization Day, encouraging celebrations on a statewide level. During his proclamation, Easley empathized the importance of programs that enable families to conserve energy. The event was received coverage from local Time Warner affiliate Channel 14 News.
Weatherization Day 2005 Activities
This year, non-profit and government agencies across Albemarle hosted the region's first Energy Fair. The two-hour workshop was designed to help residents get their utility costs under control in time for the winter heating season.
Weatherization Day 2002 Activities
Thanks to the North Carolina Community Action Association, Governor Easley issued a proclamation recognizing October 30th as Weatherization Day in the state. Several local agencies conducted celebration events including site demonstrations and news releases were sent out by subgrantees regarding their activities.
