Weatherization Day 2007 Activities
This year, Governor Granholm signed an executive declaration proclaiming October 30 as Weatherization Day and issued a press release declaring it as such throughout the state.
Weatherization Day 2006 Activities
This year, Governor Jennifer Granholm declared October 30 Weatherization Day, encouraging celebrations on a statewide level. Granholm noted that the day "draws attention to the impact of rising energy costs and the savings that can be realized by small investments in weatherization programs,". The event earned the Weatherization Assistance Program recognition throughout state and local media.
Weatherization Day 2005 Activities
This year, Michigan celebrated Weatherization Day on the lawn of the state's capitol. The day's highlights included Governor Jennifer Granholm's receipt of an energy award and her acknowledgment of Weatherization Assistance Program.
Families from across the state were able to browse several "weatherization tents" which showcased WX equipment and materials as well as ways to benefit from energy conservation. A Weatherization demo home, hosted by an actual client, was opened to the community as well.
Weatherization Day 2004 Activities
Governor Granholm proclaimed October 30 as Weatherization Day. This was the fifth in Michigan. Copies were distributed to the local weatherization network to use in their events. Local agencies in Allegan County and Oakland County coordinated events, where state and local politicans were invited as well as other network agencies. Local media covered the events. In addition, Oakland County focused a portion of its client outreach around Weatherization Day. A number of projects were conducted throughout the school year at an elementary school involving some Head Start children. Participation by the parents was strongly encouraged. Other agencies shared program information and the governor's proclamation with their local media. Plans are underway to recreate similar events on a state and local level throughout the month of October 2004. State teams also hope to include a demonstration in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan- a first for the state network.

Again this year, Governor Engler signed a proclamation recognizing October 30 as Weatherization Day. The state office issued a press release to various media outlets. Copies of the Proclamation were shared with all local agencies to use in support of their local activities. Some local agencies also issued press releases to print media and public service announcements to local radio stations. One agency conducted workshops in their ten-county jurisdiction during October and November and conducted several informational meetings at senior meal sites.

Weatherization Day 2000 Activities
On October 13, the Detroit News ran an article about the state's first local demonstration project. "The Macomb County Community Services Agency sponsored the first Low-Income Weatherization Assistance Program Demonstration House in Michigan. The event, held Wednesday in a Mt. Clemens home, highlighted state-of-the-art weatherization techniques used by the program to reduce energy cost and use by low-income families." Local, state and federal elected officials attended. The event was also video-taped so that footage can be used in further publicizing the Program.
