Weatherization Day 2007 Activities
On October 19 Kansas Governor, Kathleen Sebelius participated in a signing ceremony to proclaim October as Energy Awareness Month and October 30 as Weatherization Day. A photo shoot of this event included several local WAP Directors, WAP Public Advisory Council members, the State Economic Opportunity Director and the state Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) staff.
In addition to these activities, site demos were provided by three local WAP agencies and a statewide public service announcement was made to promote Weatherization Day and public energy awareness. Energy Savers calendars were distributed at an Energy Awareness Fair that was held in conjunction with an event held by environmentalists.
Augmenting their traditional celebrations, the Governor also encouraged Kansans to celebrate October 3rd's Energy Star Change a Light Day, with a pledge to change at least one light at home to an energy-efficient model. For more information visit

Each of these events yielded press coverage throughout the state.
Weatherization Day 2003 Activities
For the first time, Governor Kathleen Sebelius offically proclaimed Weatherization Day in October 2003. The Kansas Housing Resources Corporation has taken the necessary steps to deliver to Governor Sebelius a similiar proclamation for Weatherization Day 2004. Kansas' local agencies coordinated targeted celebrations of Weatherization Day across the state, involving mayors and city/community councilpersons, local media outlets, and other industry partners.
Weatherization Day 2002 Activities
The Governor signed a proclamation establishing October 30 as "Weatherization Day." The template provided in the Celebration Package was used and saved lots of work on this end! At least two subgrantees intend had their city mayors proclaim Weatherization Day. Articles also appeared in local newspapers informing the public about the event.
Weatherization Day 2001 Activities
Kansas City Council proclaimed October 30 as Weatherization Day in support of the national effort to promote this important low-income initiative.
