This year, Lt. Governor Becky Skillman spoke at a home undergoing key weatherization measures including the installation of a new furnace, attic and wall insulation, and sealing around windows and doors. The event highlighted "the many ways Hoosiers can reduce their energy bills".
Skillman was joined by Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) Chairman David Lott Hardy, staff from the Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor (OUCC), leaders from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA), and executives from the state's three largest natural gas utilities. In addition to promoting the Weatherization Assistance Program, the Lieutenant Governor also addressed the issue of energy safety and urged consumers to heat their homes safely and responsibly throughout the winter.
Other events promoting weatherization were also held throughout the state with several local agencies conduced site demonstrations for the benefit of local elected officials. These were met with local print coverage.
Weatherization Day 2005 Activities
Indiana conducted a series of events throughout the month of October including an Energy Fair with local agencies, multiple site demonstrations, and an official 'Energy Week' in conjunction with the Coalition to Keep Indiana Warm. The Coalition also hosted a press conference and offered energy industry price predictions. On the 15th, Citizen's Gas held "Weatherization Indianapolis Day," an educational event in which the public was shown the merits of weatherizing their own homes.

Many of these events were the subject of local news coverage.

On October 23, the Governor proclaimed October 30th as Weatherization Day by visiting a home being weatherized by Community Action of Greater Indianapolis. This visit was set up on behalf of all Community Action Agencies in the State and showcased the work being done statewide. Five television stations, and several newspapers covered the event. Staff from utility partners (Citizens Gas, IPL, and CINERGY) also attended, as did the FSSA Secretary, John Hamilton, DFC Director John Boyce, and Michael Murray.
The Madison, IN local agencies set up a booth at the local Wal-Mart with energy saving devices for observation and information packages available to give away. The local newspaper was invited to cover the event.

Weatherization Day 2000 Activities
The state and local WAP offices performed a variety of joint ventures to celebrate Weatherization Day.

Posters using the WAP logo and slogan were printed and placed in public areas in buildings throughout the state.
Weatherization Program brochures (provided as part of the Public Information kit from DOE) were reprinted using Indiana-specific data and provided to all local agencies.
