Weatherization Day 2007 Activities
On October 30, Governor Sonny Perdue issued a Proclamation proclaiming Weatherization Day throughout Georgia.
Celebrations began with a site demonstration for public officials in Clayton County. State Senator Gail Davenport, representatives from Georgia Power Company, and Atlanta Gas Light were among the dignitaries at the event. The demonstration was a great success and resulted in increased support from utility partners (including the addition of $1 million to next year's contract agreement). More information on this event can be found at

Several local agencies also held open houses as well as informational and outreach sessions today. An article featuring Southwest Georgia CAC can be found at

Weatherization Day 2006 Activities
Weatherization Day 2006 produced a flurry of statewide activity in Georgia and included events from 14 subgrantee agencies! Celebrations were launched on Oct 30 with a Weatherization Day Proclamation from Governor Sonny Perdue. A proclamation was also issued from Albany, GA's mayor Willie Adams. Both documents encouraged celebrations on a widespread level.
Events included presentations at local senior centers & home improvement store as well as the presence of a booth at a local business expo. A series of site demonstrations held for local mayors and other public officials during which whole house weatherization measures were implemented by crews.
Subgrantees also distributed flyers/brochures on the Weatherization program, provided information on energy-conservation measures (including CFLs), conducted demonstrations of weatherization materials/ equipment, distributed promotional items, took referrals, and answered all public inquiries.
All sub-grantees reported good attendance and additional referrals at their events. Local press coverage was reported throughout the state, including newspaper feature articles, radio and TV interviews. As a further highlight of the day, a local weather personality wore a "Weatherization Works in Georgia" ball cap during his segment and briefly promoted the Program.
